Know the risk
before you trade.

Leveraged trading carries a high level of risk. Read how volatility, liquidity, technical and operational risk can affect your capital.

This statement sets out the principal risks of trading leveraged products with SterlingFXM. Read it in full before opening a position — it forms part of your agreement with us and describes losses you may incur.

High-Risk Investment Warning

Trading foreign exchange (Forex), Contracts for Difference (CFDs), commodities, and cryptocurrencies carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors.

01

Financial Leverage & Volatility

  • Magnified Losses: Financial leverage amplifies both profits and losses. A small market movement against your position can result in a significant loss of funds, potentially exceeding your initial investment.

  • Market Volatility: Prices of underlying assets (currencies, metals, crypto, indices) can fluctuate rapidly due to geopolitical events, central bank policies, economic releases, and sudden liquidity shifts.

02

Market & Liquidity Risks

  • Gapping & Slippage: Sudden price movements ("gaps") can occur during weekends, major news announcements, or market opens. Stop-loss orders are not guaranteed to execute at the exact requested price during volatile or illiquid periods.

  • Overnight Rollover (Swap): Holding open positions past daily rollover times may incur financing charges (swaps) based on prevailing interest rate differentials.

03

Technical & Operational Risks

  • System Failures: Trading relies on hardware, software, internet connections, and telecom networks. Interruptions, latency, or system failures may prevent you from placing, modifying, or executing orders.

  • Cybersecurity: Online trading exposes clients to risks associated with internet connectivity, including potential malware, unauthorized access, or cyberattacks on personal devices.

04

Cryptocurrencies & Exotic Assets

Trading digital assets and cryptocurrencies involves heightened volatility, unique regulatory developments, and potential technological risks (e.g., blockchain forks, protocol bugs) that can severely impact liquidity and valuations.
